2008 Cadillac SRX Review Summary
The 2008 Cadillac SRX is well regarding midsize luxury crossover SUV category. Though it has some flaws, the 2007 re-launched Cadillac SRX was very substantial, so there are only a few changes in the 2008 model year. The rear drive (all wheel drive option) Cadillac SRX comes in two trims as defined by their engine size: The 3.6-liter V6 provides 255 hp and 254 torque with a five-speed automatic. The 4.6-liter V8 provides 320 horses and 315 torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both transmissions come with a sport mode and automatic control. The V6 got from 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds and the V8 is tracked about one second more quick. The 2008 Cadillac SRX scores in the middle of its competitive group for fuel economy, and takes regular not premium, with the V6 getting 15 mpg city/22 mpg highway sand the jus t a bit less. The Cadillac SRX competes well but does not really stand out in any category, against other sporty midsize SUVs such as BMW X5 and Infiniti FX , or less sporty Mercedes-Benz ML-Class and Volvo XC90 and even the Acura MDX. It is based on the CTS and STS sedans which attribute to its good handling and car-like feel.Noteworthy: The Cadillac SRX’s chunky exterior design is distinctive and modern looking as noted by caranddriver and others. Also the SRX crossover has a particularly wagon-like look when compared to its competitors. Some reviewers, including Detroit News, noted the very unique and custom feel giving it a handcrafted like interior. The V6 should be sufficient for most but the V6 offers more low speed acceleration. The most noticed flaw by reviewers is the awkward offset in height of the gas and brake pedals. Options for either trim include Sport package, magnetic control suspension as well as a super sized “ultraview” sunroof. As with many SUVs in its class, the third row seating is not sufficient for adults. Interior is described as tasteful and handsome by most reviewers as well as very roomy.

2008 Cadillac SRX Review Handling
: A much tighter handling feel than one would expect and on par with more sporty SUV crossovers partially due to being built on the Cadillac CTs sedan platform. Also, the Cadillac SRX is described as having a very communicative and responsive feel by Caranddriver among others. The particularly long wheel base, as noted by Forbes, makes the Cadillac SRX a smooth ride while independent suspension as noted by a few reviewers help to provide a sporty feel. Not really appropriate for much off-roading as is the case for most luxury crossovers.

2008 Cadillac SRX Review Safety
Standard features include antilock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control and airbags - front-seat side and side curtain for the first two rows. In national highway tests the Cadillac SRX received a four out of five stars for driver and front-passenger protection in frontal impacts while on side-impact tests it scored five-star rating for both front and rear passengers.
