2008 Chrysler Pacifica Overview The 2008 Chrysler Pacifica is available in three trim levels, all of which offer front-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive.  All come with a V6 engine and automatic transmission.   The base Pacifica LX FWD ($24,635) is powered by a 3.8-liter overhead-valve V6, delivering 200 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque through a four-speed automatic.  All LX models seat five, with a three-place, folding second-row bench seat, and come with 17-inch steel wheels and hubcaps.

The 2008 Chrysler Pacifica is a average entry in the Affordable Midsize SUVcrossover category and as such rated number 4 by Allcarguides.com. Though most reviewers consider it a SUV crossover, it has one leg firmly planted in the minivan category and it makes compromises to try to have features of both types of vehicles as noted by comments about limited storage and lack of agile handling in Detroit News and by other reviews. The 2008 Pacifica does not have many changes from 2007 though the 2007 model included improvements to both interior and exterior, stronger engine options and better safety with more standard air airbags. It comes in 3 trims: base LX, Touring and Limited all are front wheel drive with four wheel drive options. The powertrain options include a 3.8-liter V6 producing 200 horsepower and 235 torque as well as the 4.0-liter V6 producing 253 hp and 262 torque. The 4 liter was strongly recommended by just about every reviewer for its significantly improved performance. The lifetime power train guarantee offers limited comfort given prior years reliability problems. Though the Chrysler Pacifica has a sleek and strong exterior look as noted by many reviewers the best thing most reviewers could really say for the Chrysler Pacifica was that it is a good Minivan alternative. But then again, only for those who do not need the interior space found in most minivans,. There is room for 4 adults but interior gets cramped with 5 or 6 adults. Even though it is relatively inexpensive, the Pacifica has a hard time competing in its class and the minivan class given its expense, meager engine performance, below average mileage, modest agility and handling and when compared to minivans less storage and interior room.

: The Pacifica resembles carlike handling when compared to minivans and truck-based sport-utilities. It handles bumpy roads gracefully but is not really equipped as an offroad vehicle. As noted by a many reviewers the Chrysler Pacifica does not have the agility of the top tier SUVs.

The 2008 Chrysler Pacifica did score well on safety tests and was noted as being roomy by a number of reviewers. The Pacifica includes a lifetime powertrain warranty which may alleviate some of the concerns as earlier models had reliability issues. Awkward placement of the navigation system makes it very challenging for passenger to use. However, most reviewers remarked that interior is very elegantly designed but not over the top. The limited storage and interior space make it a hard compromise for these looking for these type of features found in most minivan.
