2010 Buick LaCrosse Overview
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse comes in three grades: CX ($27,085), CXL ($29,645), CXL AWD ($31,820), and CXS ($33,015). The CX and CXL come with a 3.0-liter V6. CXS comes with a 3.6-liter V6. LaCrosse CX is also available with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine ($26,245).
2010 Buick LaCrosse Review Summary When the 2010 Buick LaCrosse, ranked 7th by ACG in the Affordable Midsize Cars class, came out, heads turned. The LaCrosse has gotten a serious makeover, and it looks like jaws are still dropping. Praised for its elegant exterior and luxurious, finely-detailed interior, it upped the ante for the entire entry-level luxury car market. The interior features soft leather, French seams, an intuitive electronic system, and sexy blue lighting. The rear seats stand out as being particularly comfortable, as well. The car is available in 3 trims: the base CX model, a CXL model, and the crème-de-la-crème CXS model. The CX and CXL model both come with a 3.0-liter engine that generates 255 horsepower, while the CXS hosts a larger 3.6-liter engine putting out 280 horsepower. The smaller engine is so capable and blissfully quiet that reviewers find shelling out the extra bucks for the bigger engine to be unnecessary. Unfortunately, the LaCrosse is seriously lacking in the department of fuel economy with only 17 city/26 highway. Overall, the LaCrosse handles well, although not quite to the standard of a sports car, and its acceleration is smooth and strong. Perhaps most impressively and most importantly, the LaCrosse has received outstanding safety ratings. The government gave it a highest possible five out of five stars for front, rear, and side collisions, and four out of five stars in rollover prevention. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named it a ''Top Safety Pick,'' due to its success in front, side, and roof strength testing. Front, front-side, and side head-curtain airbags are standard features, as well as stability and traction control and four-wheel anti-lock brakes. Consumers should be aware, however, for visibility issues, which can be helped with the optional back-up camera. Overall, the 2010 Buick LaCrosse is a remarkably redesigned family sedan with a sexy interior and incredible power to match that deserves a second look.
2010 Buick LaCrosse Review Handling Although it doesn’t have the handling sharpness of a sports car, it will still exceed the needs of most family sedan drivers. The engine is also very quiet, and the acceleration is very pleasing. Steering is also very responsive and has impressed reviewers and consumers.
2010 Buick LaCrosse Review Safety The LaCrosse has received outstanding safety ratings, though consumers should beware of visibility issues due to thick pillars at the four corners of the car and deceivingly large trunk size. Optional back-up cameras are available, and reviewers state that they are very useful in remedying the problem. The government gave the LaCrosse a five out of five star rating in front, rear, and side collision, and a four out of five star rating in its likelihood for rolling over in a crash. The Insurance Industry was also very impressed and gave it top ratings for front, side, and roof strength testing, catapulting the LaCrosse to a ''Top Safety Pick'' for 2010. Front, front-side, and side head-curtain airbags, stability control, traction control, and four-wheel anti-lock brakes are standard features.
2010 Buick LaCrosse Noteworthy The 2010 Buick LaCross is a finalist for the 2010 North American Car of the Year award, and it is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ''Top Safety Pick'' for 2010.
