2010 Cadillac CTS Sedan Review Summary
For the first time in a long time, the German and Japanese automakers have a legitimate threat to their dominance in the luxury car market. Indeed, the 2010 Cadillac CTS, ranked 8.7 by ACG in the Upscale Midsize Cars class, is perhaps the best car that General Motors has created in years, and easily competes with the likes of the BMW 3-Series and Lexus ES. Still, the 2010 CTS isn’t the best option for the budget and fuel economy sensitive consumer. For 2010, the CTS is available in only one trim level, with either rear-or all-wheel drive. Additionally, a V6 engine, paired with a manual or an automatic six-speed transmission, is all that is offered. As far as performance is concerned, Cadillac has hit the bull’s-eye with the CTS. Reviewers find the CTS to have plenty of power. The CTS’ base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 263 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque, while providing drivers with more than enough get-up and go. As it has been since its introduction, the 2010 CTS remains an extremely unique looking car unlike anything else on the road. Critics describe the exterior of the CTS as athletic because of the sharp creases and angled stance that it boasts. Overall, it is an aggressively styled head-turner that is, perhaps, the best looker in its class. The interior of the CTS, just like the exterior, is extremely elegant. The quality is not to be outdone for the price, and the amount of space offered is nearly unparalleled. Indeed, the trunk of the CTS provides 13.6 cubic feet of storage space, which is not only above the average for this class as a whole, but also more than is offered by the 2010 BMW 3-Series. Additionally, reviewers note that the CTS is impressive in design, offers a completely fresh look, and is hits the mark right on when it comes to fit and finish. If there is a downside to the interior of the CTS, it would have to be its seating. Although passengers have plenty of space, rear-seat entry and exit can be difficult for taller passengers. Also, the front seats, for such an exciting car to drive, aren’t supportive enough and could use significantly more cushion. Interior features, however, is another area in which the CTS not only impresses, but also outdoes, much of the competition in the Upscale Midsize Cars class. Unlike the needlessly complicated technologies in much of the competition, Cadillac has integrated the features in the CTS extremely well. In particular, the CTS’ available navigation system and 40-gigabyte hard-drive based stereo were much appreciated by critics. On the whole, one cannot go wrong with the 2010 CTS. Cadillac has clearly shown what General Motors is capable of.

2010 Cadillac CTS Sedan Review Handling
Overall, the 2010 CTS handles as well, if not better, than any in its class. According to reviewers, it really excels on windy roads. While basic models handle corners well, with a four-wheel independent suspension, the available sport-tuned suspension takes the CTS’ handling capabilities to a whole new level. Additionally, the CTS responds quickly, has tight and accurate steering, and feels as stable as any sedan from Germany or Japan.

2010 Cadillac CTS Sedan Review Safety
The 2010 Cadillac CTS holds its own in safety tests. It has received four stars in frontal-impact crashes, and a top score of five stars in side-impacts in crash tests conducted by the federal government. Although the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn’t tested the 2010 CTS, the 2009 version was named a “Top Safety Pick,” which means that it earned perfect scores in the Institute’s tests. Standard safety features on the 2010 CTS include front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and GM’s Stabilitrak, which combines Electronic Stability Control with traction control.

2010 Cadillac CTS Sedan Noteworthy
For those who want even better performance than that offered by the base V6 engine, Cadillac offers a more advanced option that is a Direct Injection version of the same engine. This is the first direct-injection engine an American automaker has built. It pumps pressurized fuel directly into the cylinders in a fine mist, resulting in a higher power output than traditional fuel injection without the need for turbochargers. This engine produces 304 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This is good enough for some test drivers to go from zero-to-sixty miles per hour in times less than 6.5 seconds.
