2010 Nissan Versa Review Summary
For consumers looking for a good fuel economy in a car that's inexpensive, the 2010 Nissan Versa, ranked 10th by ACG in the Affordable Small Cars class, is probably the best choice. The Versa gives consumers the opportunity to save a lot of money, though, unfortunately, at the price of performance and style. It is available in a four-door hatchback or four-door sedan body style. The sedan is offered in the 1.6 base, 1.6, and S trim levels. The S and SL, however, are the only trim level that offers a choice of either sedan or hatchback body types. The 1.6 base and 1.6 trims come with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 107 horsepower and 111 pound-feet of torque, whereas the S and SL trims come with 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 122 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. In terms of transmissions, the 1.6 trim comes standard with a 5-speed manual and an optional 4-speed automatic, and the S trim comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 4-speed automatic which is standard on the SL trim. The SL hatchback comes with CVT, which improves performance and fuel economy. Reviewers all agree that the hatchback's body and exterior has quite a distinctive look and provides a certain sense of style, though the sedan is plain and carries little eye appeal. The interior design offers a vast amount of space for both front and rear passengers, and the extra tall interior space provides more than enough head room for passengers 6 feet tall, though fitting three people in the back seat is quite tricky because the car is very narrow. The hatchback offers an impressive 50.4 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded down, while the sedan offers 13.8 cubic feet of space which is quite a bit for a car in its class. Although the seats may be comfortable for hour-long commutes, and although the front seats offer armrests, like most fuel economy cars the interior of the car is rather cheap looking with hard plastic lined all over the doors and dashboard. The car offers a few extra additions as optional items, which include keyless ignition/entry, Bluetooth, and satellite radio.

2010 Nissan Versa Review Handling
The 2010 Versa was not built to be a hard cornering machine. The soft suspension makes the tall body of the car roll to the side on corners, and the artificial steering feel makes the driving experience rather dull.

2010 Nissan Versa Review Safety
The 2010 Nissan Versa comes with standard safety features such as front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, adding up to a total of six airbags. Dynamic control and traction control are included with higher trim levels, and antilock brakes with electronic break-force distribution and brake assist are options for an additional $250. The Versa was ranked with four out of five stars for both driver and passenger protection in a front-end collision, as well as for front and rear passenger side-impact collisions in government crash tests.

2010 Nissan Versa Noteworthy
The Insurance Industry ranks the Versa as a ''Top Safety Pick''.
