2010 Subaru Impreza Sedan Review Summary
In the minds of most consumers, Subaru's vehicles are best known for their all-wheel drive, and the 2010 Subaru Impreza, ranked 3rd by ACG in the Affordable Small Cars class, is no exception, making it the perfect car for wintry conditions. The Impreza comes with either a stock automatic or manual 5-speed transmission for both the 4-door sedan and 4-door hatchback models. These models also come in the 2.5i or 2.5 premium trims, both featuring a 2.5-liter I4 Gas Flat engine with an output of 170 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque capable of hitting 0-60 mph in 8.2 seconds. In addition to these trims, the sedan and hatchback are available in the 2.5 GT trim which includes the 2.5-liter I4 engine. This engine rakes out an impressive 224 horsepower thanks to its turbo, allowing it to compete with higher upscale models such as the Volkswagen GTI. The GT comes with a 4-speed transmission, which can also be implemented into the 2.5i and 2.5i premium models for an additional $1,000. The hatchback comes in the Outback Sport and WRX STI trims, giving it a little more power. Unfortunately, if consumers are looking for good fuel economy, the Impreza ranks as one of the worst within its class with only 20 city/26 hwy for the 2.5i and 2.5i premium models and an even lower, 18 city/25 hwy for the GT model. The exterior style of the Impreza gets mixed reviews depending on whether the car is the sedan or the hatchback version, the sedan being slightly dull and flavorless when it comes to outer features, and the hatchback being more rugged and aggressive in appearance with a separation in exterior colors. As for the interior of the car, it sticks to Subaru's traditional style that can be found in earlier Impreza models, though it still manages to be sleek and stylish, almost business-like. The front and rear seats offer plenty of head and leg room; however, reviewers complain that the front seats feel quite stiff for some people, and the steering wheel has no tilt nor any telescoping features, which may make it difficult for drivers to find a comfortable position. A major perk to the Impreza is its cargo room. The sedan, offering only 11.3 cubic feet of space may not seem impressive, but it is adequate for its class. The hatchback, on the other hand, offers 19 cubic feet of space, and with its split folding rear seats down, it offers an impressive 44.4 cubic feet of space, far more than expected or average for a car in its class. As for additional features, the Impreza doesn't really offer much other than AC, an audio system with MP3/WMA capability, and power windows and mirrors. However, if purchasing the 2.5i Premium model, consumers can upgrade the dash for an additional $3,000. This buys a navigation system as part of the Power Moonroof and Navigation Package, which includes Sirius Satellite Radio and Bluetooth, and the power moon roof. Overall the 2010 Subaru Impreza is worth looking into for consumers considering driving through rain, slush, and snow, as well as moderately rough terrain within comfort and safety.

2010 Subaru Impreza Sedan Review Handling
Critics have found that the 2010 Subaru Impreza offers excellent handling whether it is on-road or off-road driving. The WRX STI offers sharper handling than the other trims as it is, in essence, a tweaked and tamed rally car.

2010 Subaru Impreza Sedan Review Safety
The Impreza is one of the leading cars in its class for standard safety features. It ranked five stars in government crash tests for both driver and passenger front test collisions, as well as front passenger side-impact collisions. It also earned four stars with rear passenger protection for side-impact collisions and boasts only a 10 percent chance of rolling over in a single vehicle crash. The Impreza also offers symmetrical all-wheel drive, six airbags, anti-lock braking system which has electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, vehicle dynamic control, and traction control , all as standard features.

2010 Subaru Impreza Sedan Noteworthy
If you’re a consumer looking for a car to modify into a rally car, the 2010 Impreza WRX STI is your best bet. The WRX is a very fast car which handles very well. Given its very low relative price it competes very well when compared to the BMW 3 series and other cars in the 3 series class.
