2010 Volkswagen Eos Review Summary
The 2010 Volkswagen Eos, ranked 7.5 by ACG in the Upscale Midsize Cars class, is a convertible that won’t match up with the best in this class when it comes to handling and performance, but it is certainly a stylish car that is decent on fuel and more than holds its own in all of the pertinent automotive categories. Consumers should be aware, however, that the Eos is on the tiny side and that it is very expensive for what it is. In fact, one could probably purchase a BMW 3-Series or Lexus IS for about the same money and get far more. The 2010 Eos is available in two trim levels: Komfort and Lux. These two models offer one engine, a turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine that creates 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. While the 200 horsepower is certainly powerful enough to provide decent acceleration and highway-passing ability, the Eos is in no way engineered for racetrack driving. It’s a practical car that provides a somewhat sporty and inspiring ride. On the outside, critics find the 2010 Volkswagen Eos to be “stylish in a conservative way.” The convertible offers a clean, sporty look that almost makes it seem as if it’s a cross between the Jetta or perhaps the Passat and a GTI. The biggest disagreement among reviewers with regard to the Eos’ exterior is whether or not it looks better with the top up or down. While the exterior of the Eos has received praise, the passenger cabin is an even bigger hit. Even though space is tight for both storage and rear seating (reviewers say the rear seats are difficult to access), the cabin in the Eos offers a strikingly beautiful design and features high quality materials throughout. For example, the seats are built with firm side bolstering and offer plenty of support and lateral stability. When it comes to interior technology, the 2010 Eos offers a fairly extensive complement, and the only complaint is the awkward looking standard stereo that appears as if it was shoved into the car as an afterthought. As is the case with nearly every car in the Upscale Midsize Cars class, especially convertibles, the Eos offers extremely little cargo space. With the hardtop up, it comes in at 10.5 cubic feet of space. With the top down, the number is even worse at 6.6 cubic feet. Overall, the 2010 Eos is an expensive option for the performance it offers, but it’s still a stylish car with great appeal inside and out.

2010 Volkswagen Eos Review Handling
The Eos offers suitable handling this comfortable for daily commuting. It’s balanced on the highway (especially with the top down) and has plenty of cornering ability. Additionally, the Eos offers solid braking and its steering and suspension is perfect for comfortable cruising. While the handling on the Eos is fine, consumers should definitely not think this is a sports car or even compare it to the abilities of the Cadillac CTS or BMW 3-Series.

2010 Volkswagen Eos Review Safety
The 2010 Volkswagen Eos has not been crash tested by the federal government; however, it does come standard with plenty of safety equipment. Standard safety features include: four-wheel antilock brakes with brake assist, traction control and stability control, front, side-impact, and side-head-curtain airbags.

2010 Volkswagen Eos Noteworthy
The 2010 Volkswagen Eos features the only retractable hardtop with a built-in sunroof on the market. Additionally, it is worth noting that the Eos is one of the few convertibles available that loses little of its handling ability when the top is down.
